Over the last 10 years Fitzroy Yachts has built an international
reputation producing luxury superyachts - yachts such as Midnight,
Helios, Zulu and Salperton - to become one of the world's leading boat
building yards.
The company's proven excellence in superyacht construction is based on their commitment to delivering the finest quality vessels to their clients.
The yacht Salperton, a nominee for the Boat International Superyacht Awards 2008, is an example of superlative design and the exceptionally high standard of construction that characterise Fitzroy Yachts.
At 44m, Salperton epitomises the winning combination of innovative design from Dubois Naval Architects, coupled with Fitzroy Yacht's world-class excellence in engineering, workmanship and attention to detail.
Salperton incorporates all the usual fittings and fixtures mandatory to a luxury yacht, together with some additional enhancements. For example good indoor-outdoor flow from pilothouse to cockpit was achieved by glazing the entire aft bulkhead of the pilothouse with four moving panels and two fixed panels. Under normal conditions, the moving panels act as automatic opening and closing sliding doors, however, in addition, the panels may be locked together and powered outboard to create an immense opening into the upper saloon.
Another groundbreaking feature is the carbon-fibre daggerboard, which increases the vessel's draft from 4.75 metres to seven metres when lowered. The daggerboard can be operated on the wind at speeds of up to 14 knots.
Other innovations include stainless steel, teak-soled mooring bollards that, when not in use, rotate and stow flush with the deck, further enhancing the clean look of the decks.
Salperton's interior design is the work of Adam Lay Studio. The contemporary look to the oak and walnut joinery is complemented by the palette of calm colours and textures utilised in the fabrics and upholstery. The vessel features custom designed furniture, oak flooring, luxurious carpets and bronze and leather door hardware, all combining to create a warm and practical style.

Currently under construction at Fitzroy Yachts is the 41m Dubois classic sloop, Inmocean, scheduled for launch in early 2008.
Dubois Naval Architects have produced a classic-style yacht, the profile showing an easy, flowing sheerline with long, classic ends and a highly developed and thoroughly workable interior layout.
Warm cherry wood with satin stainless steel highlights makes up the majority of the Adam Lay-designed interior décor, with a hint of classical panelling, but in a uniquely contemporary way.
The owner's cabin forward affords the luxury of a private space on the foredeck, his and hers bathrooms and generous headroom, giving the cabin an overall feeling of space, light and openness. From the owner's cabin, a progressively curved passageway between two guest cabins leads aft to the lower saloon and study, which in turn give way, via a staircase, to the pilothouse.
Crew spaces aft are designed to maximise the crew's ability to service the yacht, her owner and guests. The cockpit spaces, nestled snugly against the pilothouse are excellent for al fresco entertaining.
Working closely with her European owner and experienced captain, Fitzroy Yachts have used their extensive knowledge and expertise to create a yacht with modern technology and innovative ideas.
